New deal and loan for Gibbs-White

2 min read

Morgan Gibbs-White has signed a new long-term contract with Wolves and joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old, who has progressed through the Wolves system to make more than 80 first-team appearances in old gold, has extended his Molineux stay until 2024.

After agreeing fresh terms, the midfielder now joins the Blades for the 2021/22 season, after impressing on loan at the same level with Swansea City last term.

The youngster has appeared three times under Bruno Lage, scoring in the Carabao Cup at Nottingham Forest last week, and will now target regular minutes to continue his development at Bramall Lane.

On the news, technical director Scott Sellars said: “Morgan’s still a young player, with a big future. We’ve extended his contract because we want him to stay, we see him having a long-term future at Wolves, but at the moment we feel a loan move is the best option for him.

“This is a great move for Morgan’s development. He’s not had too many minutes in recent years, so this is an opportunity to play every week and grow as a player in the Championship, at a good club.

“He proved in the games he had at Swansea last year that he has quality. In the games I saw, and the data proved that he was going to be a top player in the Championship, before getting the injury, so we think this move can really benefit Morgan again.”
