Internationals | Six youngsters away on duty

3 min read

Wolves Academy have six youngsters away on duty during the final international break of 2024 this month.

Justin Hubner, Lewys Benjamin, Ethan Sutherland, Luke O’Donnell, Saheed Olagunju and Wes Okoduwa have all been called up to represent their countries.

Defender Hubner recently returned from a period out injured, playing the opening 45 minutes of last week’s National League Cup tie at Oldham Athletic.

And following his comeback, Hubner is back in the Indonesia senior squad as they face World Cup qualifiers at home to Japan and Saudi Arabia.

After getting a taste with the under-21s last month, goalkeeper Benjamin will report for duty with Wales under-19s this week ahead of three 2025 UEFA U19 EURO qualifiers.

Chris Gunter’s side are set to play all three games in Glasgow, with matches against Scotland, France and Liechtenstein to come in the qualifying round.

Benjamin will come up against Old Gold teammate Sutherland, as the left-back has been included in Scotland’s under-19 squad once again.

With the two nations in the same group, Scotland will also go up against France and Liechtenstein following their opener with Wales.

O’Donnell’s form since signing for Wolves has been recognised, with the midfielder named in the latest Republic of Ireland under-18 squad.

O’Donnell will travel to Croatia as Ireland play three friendly fixtures versus Japan, Croatia and Portugal, with the games forming preparation for the 2025/26 UEFA U19 qualifiers next autumn.

Elsewhere, Olagunju and Okoduwa will both represent England this month, with the duo selected for U18 and U17 duty respectively.

Olagunju will be in Valencia for two international friendlies – the first against Poland, before the Young Lions take on either Germany or Belgium.

For the under-17s, Okoduwa has a double-header of friendlies, this time in Belgium, as Neil Ryan’s side go up against the Red Devils twice in the space of four days.
