Justin Hubner made his senior debut for Indonesia in Tuesday’s 4-0 international friendly defeat to Libya.

The under-21s defender recently completed the process of receiving Indonesian citizenship after previously representing the country at youth level.

Born in the Netherlands, Hubner also played for his country of birth at U20 level but has now made his senior bow for Indonesia, where his grandfather was born.

Indonesia are currently preparing for the 2023 Asian Cup with three friendly fixtures during a training camp in Turkey.

Shin Tae-yong’s side faced Libya yesterday, during which Hubner made his debut as a second half substitute, and will play them again on Friday before closing their pre-tournament camp with a clash against Iran.

The final squad for the Asian Cup will then be named as 28 is reduced to a 26-man group ahead of the tournament hosted in Qatar.

Indonesia play their opening fixture of the competition against Iraq on Monday 15th January before facing Vietnam and Japan to complete their Group D schedule.
