Hodge completes new loan switch

2 min read

Wolves midfielder Joe Hodge has joined League One side Huddersfield Town on loan for the 2024/25 season.

It’s a second temporary stint away from Molineux for the 21-year-old, who spent the second half of last season in the Championship with QPR, scoring on his debut and making a further seven appearances.

They added to his 13 outings for the Old Gold, which came primarily in the 2022/23 season, while he last represented the club against Brentford in the FA Cup back in January.

Now, the Manchester-born youngster returns north and joins the Terriers, who suffered relegation into the third tier in May, but have won three from three at the start of the new campaign.

Head of professional football development Matt Jackson said: “This is all about Joe’s continued development. He needs to play lots of games, get lots of minutes. He had a taste of the Championship with QPR which was a frustrating time for him, but it was a learning experience. He can use those frustrations as motivation to have a consistent season with Huddersfield.

“Huddersfield are really a Championship club playing in the wrong division, so there’s a lot of pressure there and they’re very well coached. We can only have a certain amount of overseas loans and Hodgey suffered because he could only take domestic options, but if they go up, who knows what might happen from there.

“They’re long-time admirers of him and they’ve been patient, and now with Nigel and Hodgey there, it could be the future of Wolves playing together. The lads dictate their own futures. We love him as a player, he’s such an honest individual, and he’ll be a dream loan signing for them, I’m sure, because I expect him to be very good in that division.”
