Djiga joins Rangers on loan

2 min read

Nasser Djiga will spend the 2025/26 season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

The young defender, who was a deadline day signing for Wolves earlier this year, heads north of the border to gain valuable experience in the British game.

The Burkina Faso international made six appearances in gold and black following his switch from Serbian SuperLiga side Red Star Belgrade in February, including a first Premier League start away at Crystal Palace in the closing weeks of the campaign.

Ahead of moving to Molineux, Djiga began playing in his home nation at Vitesse FC before moving to Switzerland with FC Basel where he also played in the Europa Conference League.

As a teen, the defender also spent loan time with Nimes in France and, following a brief return to Basel, Djiga moved to Belgrade. During 18 months in Serbia, he helped his team to the league and cup double and experienced the Champions League for the first time.

Wolves brought the centre-back to England in early February and he made his debut as a substitute the 1-0 Premier League win at AFC Bournemouth later that month, before coming off the bench against Southampton, Ipswich Town and Manchester United in the Old Gold’s historic six-win run.

Djiga will now spend the 2025/26 season in Scotland with Rangers who are also competing for European football this year, with Russell Martin’s side in Champions League qualifying.

Everyone at Wolves wishes the best of luck to Nasser for his upcoming season at Ibrox.
