Wolves under-23s face their first match in more than a month on Monday evening as they host Burnley at Aggborough.
James Collins’ men will be looking at replicating their Premier League Cup form into Premier League 2 Division 2, as the development side aim for their first win in three league outings.
After their last game of 2021 against Newcastle and their opening fixture of 2022 versus Southampton last week were both postponed due to Covid-19 issues in the opposition squads, Collins’ side are looking forward to getting back on the pitch, having not played a PL2 match since the start of December.
Wolves face a difficult task in Kidderminster with Burnley coming into the game off an unbeaten three-game run, which saw the Clarets claim the three points at Middlesbrough, as well as draws against Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City.
Last time the sides met earlier in the season, Luke Cundle’s impressive strike earned Wolves a point despite putting in a dominant second-half performance at Turf Moor.

WHAT THE BOSS THINKS
With many of Collins’ players stepping out in the FA Youth Cup victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, it could have an impact on his team selection heading into Monday evening’s clash, but the head coach is expecting a difficult task, whoever plays.
“Burnley are always a tough team to play against. It doesn’t matter what team they put out, they have certain values and certain principles which mean they are always tough to beat and hard to play against, and that will be no different on Monday.
“We’ll know a bit more once the game at the weekend has been played as to what our team will look like and it will probably be a late decision to what our team will be, depending on who comes out of the FA Youth Cup game.
“We’ll try and prepare the best that we can for the game on Monday in the short time we have available, but we know it’s going to be a tough one.”
